"A strong willed gentleman in shades of grey"
I revamped my old desk which has seen me through high school and a quarter of a century of creating, drawing, sewing, assignments and exams. As I applied Annie Sloan's "Graphite" coloured chalk paint I witnessed my desk transform from a duck egg blue playful kid to a bearded man.
I replaced the 80's wooden handles with metal cup hooks to give it that classy farmhouse look.
I found this metal and rose gold wastepaper bin which picks up on the desks metal cup handles and accessorised with yellow and rose gold decor accessories from www.mrprice.co.za.The grey mat with a geometric design completes the space.
I've been curious for a while on what screen printing entailed, so finally booked myself on a fun-filled, very informative, morning workshop with the talented Zana girls in Woodstock, Cape Town. You can find them on http://zanaproducts.co.za/workshops/.We printed Zana designs onto fabric whilst practicing silk screening.
I used one of the prints from the Zana workshop with Zana's design to cover this hard covered journal, and I framed the Zana "YAY" design print http://zanaproducts.co.za/ in a black frame.
I love this black and white swiss cross design throw which i combined with an old woolly dark grey blanket and grey and charcoal linen purchased from www.mrpricehome.co.za.
To add some inexpensive wall art to his room, inspired by his love for PC Gaming. I printed the letters "W", "S", "D" and modge podged them onto black painted framed canvas to appear as letters of a keyboard.
My favourite local south African fabric designers at www.designteam.co.za designs always feature in my designs, simply because their artwork is superb!
The black geometric print in the scatter and pencil bag with grey spot design are from their collection of fabrics. For some cozy comfort I've incorporated a fluffy grey cushion on the chair.
Happy styling- keep watching this space for more design and styling inspiration.
